Some Directors take full charge and the camera operator is not allowed to make use of his mind or eyes to improve the shots or do any experimentation. On some shows, the Director can and does use the talents of an expert photographer who's operating the camera and the Director will instruct the photographer, beforehand, to obtain the best shots he can get (while that specific camera isn't on program). Most times, in the studio, it is most beneficial for the executive producer to deal with the robotics cameras.
